Aurora Medical Center promotes wellness screening as an integral part of the treatment plan. Recommended screening guidelines vary depending on age and sex, as well as personal and family history. We strive to develop a wellness plan suited for you and your family’s individual needs.

 

John C. Callahan, MD

Dr. Callahan is a 1993 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his Family Practice residency at Chesterfield Family Practice in Richmond, VA and a Fellowship in Rural Family Medicine in Johnson City, TN. In 1997, he joined the Beaufort County Hospital staff and Aurora Medical Center. He was chief of staff at BCH in 2002. He is Board certified in family medicine.
 

Cyril G. Varlack, MS, PA-C

Cyril G. Varlack is a 1996 graduate of Alderson Broaddus College Physician Assistant Program in West Virginia. He holds a Masters Degree with a specialization in Family Medicine. He has five
years experience in homeless and correctional medicine prior to joining Aurora Medical Center in 2001. His special interests are tropical medicine and infectious diseases with a focus on sexually transmitted diseases.

 

We participate with most insurance plans. Please check with our staff regarding participation with your particular plan. Co-pays are expected to be paid at the time of your visit. If we are not a participating provider with your insurance plan, then payment is expected for services rendered at the time of the visit. Our billing is handled by Beaufort County Hospital. Questions concerning your account should be directed toward the telephone number on your statement. Laboratory specimens are processed through Beaufort County Hospital. If you have had lab work or other outpatient testing at the hospital, you may also receive a bill from that provider for those services. Questions regarding their billing should be directed to the number on their statement.

 

Prescription refills may be requested during office hours and will usually be handled within 24 hours. Please ask your pharmacy to fax refill requests to our office at 252.322.5088. You may also leave a message on our Medication Request line at 252.322.5189. A limited amount of critical medications may be called in after-hours until an appointment can be arranged. Please note that controlled medications cannot be called in after hours.

Patients are asked to notify office staff of any changes in their address, telephone number, emergency contacts or insurance coverage. Please make our nurse aware of any medication changes or allergies since your last visit. Updating our records helps us better serve you as our patient.
