You may receive several different types of bills for service provided to
you as a patient at Beaufort County Hospital. Your ability to pay does
not impact the effectiveness and quality of care you receive at Beaufort
County Hospital.
• Hospital bill – This bill consists of charges for hospital services
that include but are not limited to room stay, lab tests, x-rays,
medications, surgical fees, bedside meals,
nursing services, processing of medical records, housekeeping, etc.
Charges for hospital services will be provided to you upon request.
• Physician fees – The physician’s fee for professional services is
separate from the bill provided by the hospital.
• Eastern Radiology – The physician’s fee for reading x-rays is separate
from the bill provided by the hospital.
Occasionally certain charges, such as those for special tests, are not
received in the business office until after discharge. When this
happens, the additional charges are included in monthly billings.
As a courtesy to our patients, the hospital will bill your insurance
carrier for you. However, your insurance plan(s) and government programs
such as Medicare and Medicaid, may not fully cover your bill. The
hospital will estimate any portion that you may have to pay based on
benefit information we have been given by your insurance company.
Arrangements for payment of hospital charges should be made before
admission if possible. If you were not pre-admitted, a patient
representative (financial counselor) may visit you before discharge to
discuss the estimated amount you may have to pay.
If you have questions please call a Patient Account Representative at
975-4228 or 975-4311.
